Getting Started: Duck ID Information

New Students
If you have registered for classes, we have automatically generated a Duck ID for you. A Duck ID is your username. Your Duck ID and its associated password provides access to your email, our wireless network and our modem pool, among other services.

About Your Duck ID
There are several things you should know about your account:

• Passwords expire every 180 days. You will receive an email notification seven business days before the password expires.
• Each account has a 1GB storage limit. This limit applies to everything stored in your account, including email messages, attachments, photos and web pages, for example.
• Read email using Webmail, or use an email client.

This is the web site for changing passwords. Use it to change your password. Once you have answered a set of security questions, you can also use this web site to reset your password if you forgot it.

If you need to reset your password and have not set up your security questions, there are two other ways to reset your password:

• Visit 151 McKenzie (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm) and fill out a Password Change Request Form
• Fax a Password Change Request using this form: http://is.uoregon.edu/fax_request.html

Choosing a good password:

A valid password is:

• between 8 and 32 characters in length
• not be one of your last three passwords
• not your email address or name
• not a word in the English or Spanish dictionaries
• not a common keyboard sequence (asdghjk or qwertyui, for example)
